What is Previcox? Previcox is a coxib class non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication that your veterinarian may prescribe in order to provide relief from pain and inflammation associated with many types of joint abnormalities including arthritis in dogs.
What are the benefits of Previcox?

How is this medication given? Previcox is given by mouth (orally). Giving this medication with food can reduce the chance of stomach/intestinal side effects but giving without food is also acceptable.
This medication is labeled for once a day use but you should always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. Contact your veterinarian if it becomes difficult to administer Previcox to your dog. Only give this drug to the pet for which it was prescribed. If your dog is to be given Previcox long-term, try to give the minimum dose necessary in order to relieve symptoms.
How does this medication work? Previcox is a COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) inhibiting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication. Previcox also works to spare the COX-1 (cyclooxygenase-1) enzyme which helps to maintain normal body function.
What results can I expect? Previcox helps relieve the symptoms associated with arthritis and other joint abnormalities. Since there is no cure for arthritis, Previcox can help reduce the inflammation that causes musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, and joint) pain in your dog which may help improve your dog's mobility. Post-surgical pain can also be minimized. Responses vary from dog to dog but most dogs will show evidence of improvement within days. If Previcox is discontinued or administered incorrectly, your dog’s pain and inflammation may return.

It also helps bring relief from other joint problems and can help your pet to feel better after surgery. Carprofen is the generic alternative to Rimadyl, Novox, and Vetprofenl.
What are the benefits of Novox?

Formulated for:Dogs.The safety of Carprofen in puppies under 6 weeks of age has not been established. Some veterinarians may prescribe Novox for small animals and birds although this medication is labeled for dogs only. Carprofen should not be prescribed for cats.
How is this medication given? Carprofen can be given once a day or it can be split into twice daily dosing. Your veterinarian will determine the dosage of medication and the frequency at which it should be given. Give this medication by mouth (orally). Gastrointestinal upset including vomiting and diarrhea may be minimized if Carprofen is given with food. Carprofen should be given at the lowest dose necessary to help your dog to feel better.
You should never administer Carprofen to a pet other than the one for which it has been prescribed for. How does this medication work? Chemicals in the body called prostaglandins are reduced with Carprofen. Since prostaglandins trigger inflammation, minimizing them helps decrease inflammation and pain that occurs as a result of arthritis, surgery, and other joint conditions.
What results can I expect? Symptoms of arthritis include stiffness, trouble walking, and difficulty rising. These symptoms can be relieved with Carprofen although this medication will not cure arthritis since there is no known cure for this chronic condition.
Your dog should start to feel better although results vary in each individual. If you discontinue Carprofen you may notice your dog’s symptoms returning.
What Form(s) does Carprofen come in? Carprofen is available as 25 mg, 75 mg, and 100 mg tablets (caplets). The tablets are scored so that they can be broken in half if necessary.
