Spend endless hours outside with your dog knowing that he/she is protected against heartworm disease and other intestinal parasites with Heartgard Plus Chewable Tablets for dogs 51-100 lbs.
What is Heartgard Plus? Heartgard Plus contains a combination of worming medications ( Ivermectin and Pyrantel pamoate) that helps to control and treat certain intestinal parasites (roundworms and hookworms) and prevent heartworm in dogs.
What are the Benefits of Heartgard Plus? Protects your dog from potentially deadly heartworm disease.
Treats and controls roundworms and hookworms which can cause disease in both pets and humans. Delicious beef- flavored chewable makes administration easy.
Formulated for: dogs and puppies (older than 6 weeks) and considered safe for pregnant/breeding females.
How is this medication given? Administered once a month, Heartgard Plus is given orally as a beef-flavored chewable. It is generally recommended to give this medication on a year-round basis but check with your veterinarian regarding his/her recommendation.
A blood test to check for heartworm disease is necessary before starting Heartgard Plus and may be necessary if more than one monthly dose is skipped so check with your veterinarian regarding his/her recommendations.
Only give this medication to the dog for which it has been prescribed. Do not give a double dose of medication if a dose has been missed.
This medication should not be swallowed whole and should be chewed. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose.
How does this medication work? The combination of worming medication in Heartgard Plus prevents heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) in dogs, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. It also controls and treats certain intestinal parasites such as hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, A. brasiliense, and Uncinaria stenocephala) and roundworms (ascarids - Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina).
Ivermectin interferes with the parasite's nerve transmission, causing paralysis and death of immature heartworms (larvae). Pyrantel pamoate interrupts the parasite's nerve transmission, causing paralysis and death of intestinal worms.
What results can I expect? Heartgard Plus should kill any heartworm larvae (immature heartworms) that your dog has been exposed to in the preceding month. Hookworms and roundworms can also be controlled and treated simultaneously with this medication.
What form(s) does Heartgard Plus come in? Heartgard Plus for large dogs 51-100 lbs is a chewable tablet that contains beef flavoring.

Never worry about heartworm infection in your dog again. Heartgard Plus Chewable Tablets for Dogs used monthly can help your dog avoid the risk, stress, and long periods of confinement that go along with treatment for canine heartworm disease while protecting against some intestinal parasites too! What is Heartgard Plus? Heartgard Plus contains Ivermectin and Pyrantel pamoate which are powerful worming medications that work to prevent heartworm disease in your dog while working to treat and control hookworms and roundworms at the same time. What are the Benefits of Heartgard Plus?- Highly effective in preventing heartworm disease in dogs.
- Unique combination of worming medications also assists in the control and treatment of certain intestinal parasites (roundworms and hookworms) which can be a danger to other pets and humans.
- Most dogs adore the beefy taste.
- Chewable tablets administered monthly make it easy to give.
- Formulated for canines (dogs) older than 6 weeks and can be safely given to pregnant/breeding females as necessary.
How is this medication given? Heartgard Plus is given every 30 days as a chewable tablet. The tablets need to be chewed and may need to be broken in small pieces if your dog has the tendency to swallow without chewing. Some veterinarians may recommend giving tablets only during the mosquito season(spring/summer) although others recommend using tablets year-round. Check with your veterinarian regarding his/her specific recommendations. If given seasonally, the first dose must be given within 30 days of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be given within 30 days after the dog's last exposure to mosquitoes. A blood test to check for heartworm disease is necessary before starting Heartgard Plus. The frequency of testing should take into account variables such as prevalence of heartworm disease in the area, missed or late doses of heartworm preventative, and your dog’s lifestyle. Your veterinarian will determine the exact frequency of testing for your dog. This medication should only be given to the dog for which it has been prescribed. Tablets should not be split and should be given exactly as directed. Never give two doses at once and always check with your veterinarian if a dose has been missed. How does this medication work? Monthly administration of Heartgard Plus Chewable Tablets for Dogs as directed by your veterinarian should effectively kill immature heartworms introduced to the dog within 30 days. Killing heartworms in the immature stage will prevent the development of adult heartworms which are difficult to treat and can be deadly if your dog becomes infected. Ivermectin and Pyrantel pamoate can also effectively kill and prevent certain intestinal worms (roundworms and hookworms). What results can I expect? You can expect Heartgard Plus to kill heartworm larvae (immature heartworms) which will prevent the formation of adult heartworms that can be problematic and sometimes life-threatening to your dog. Roundworms and hookworms can also be prevented and controlled with the active ingredients in this medication. What form(s) does Heartgard Plus come in? Heartgard Plus tablets for dogs under 25 lbs come in beefy, chewable tablets.

Learn More
What is Carprofen? Carprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication that helps relieve the pain and inflammation that occurs with arthritis in dogs. It also helps bring relief from other joint problems and can help your pet to feel better after surgery. Carprofen is the generic alternative to Rimadyl, Novox, and Vetprofenl. What are the benefits?- Generic form of Rimadyl, Novox, and Vetprofen.
- Can be given once a day or twice a day.
- Effective in controlling joint pain and inflammation.
- Can help bring relief after surgery.
- Scored tablets make it easy to break tablets in half for proper dosing.
Formulated for: Dogs. The safety of Carprofen in puppies under 6 weeks of age has not been established. Some veterinarians may prescribe for small animals and birds although this medication is labeled for dogs only. Do not use with cats. How is this medication given? Carprofen can be given once a day or it can be split into twice daily dosing. Your veterinarian will determine the dosage of medication and the frequency at which it should be given. Give this medication by mouth (orally). Gastrointestinal upset including vomiting and diarrhea may be minimized if Carprofen is given with food. Carprofen should be given at the lowest dose necessary to help your dog to feel better. You should never administer Carprofen to a pet other than the one for which it has been prescribed for. How does it work? Chemicals in the body called prostaglandins are reduced with Carprofen. Since prostaglandins trigger inflammation, minimizing them helps decrease inflammation and pain that occurs as a result of arthritis, surgery, and other joint conditions. What results can I expect? Symptoms of arthritis include stiffness, trouble walking, and difficulty rising. These symptoms can be relieved with Carprofen although this medication will not cure arthritis since there is no known cure for this chronic condition. Your dog should start to feel better although results vary in each individual. If you discontinue Carprofen you may notice your dog’s symptoms returning. What Form(s) does Carprofen come in? scored tablets (caplets). Dose and Administration: Novox is an oral medication that your pet takes by mouth. It can be give one to two times daily but your veterinarian will determine the dose and frequency that is ideal for your dog. Giving Carprofen with food can sometimes help to decrease gastrointestinal upset. If you miss a dose, you should give as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, just skip the dose that you missed so that you do not give two doses at once. Only give Carprofen to the dog for which your veterinarian has prescribed it for. If there are any questions or problems giving your dog this medication, consult your veterinarian immediately. Minimize your dog’s arthritis and joint pain and improve his/her quality of life with Carprofen. Possible Side Effects: The most commonly reported side effect is gastrointestinal upset which may result in vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. Stomach ulcers may also develop and this can cause your dog to have bloody stools, black stools, or constipation in addition to other gastrointestinal signs. Sometimes the kidneys and liver may be affected. Symptoms of kidney problems include increased thirst, increased urination, and changes in the color and smell of your pet’s urine. If liver problems occur, you may notice jaundice (yellowing of the gums, skin, or eyes). Pale gums, shedding, incoordination, seizures, behavioral changes, and other less common side effects are also possible. If your pet is allergic to this medication, he/she may display symptoms such as facial swelling, hives, scratching, and sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma. Contact veterinarian if abnormalities occur.

Your dog can go anywhere without the risk of becoming infected with heartworm disease if you give him/her Heartgard Plus monthly!
What is Heartgard Plus? The worming medications in Heartgard Plus help to control and treat certain intestinal parasites (roundworms and hookworms) while effectively preventing heartworm in dogs. Ivermectin and Pyrantel pamoate work together in order to help protect your dog from heartworm disease, roundworms, and hookworms.
Formulated for: dogs and puppies unless he/she is under 6 weeks of age. A pregnant/breeding female should be able to tolerate this medication safely if necessary.
How is this medication given? It is recommended to administer Heartgard Plus to your dog on a monthly basis. Tablets should not be swallowed whole and should be chewed. You may need to break tablets in small pieces if your dog has the tendency to swallow without chewing.
It is essential to give tablets during the mosquito season (spring/summer) in order to protect your dog from heartworm disease although many veterinarians recommend using tablets year-round. Speak with your veterinarian to find out what he/she recommends for your dog. The first dose must be given within 30 days of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes and the last dose must be given within 30 days after the dog's last exposure to mosquitoes if you are using Heartgard Plus seasonally.
A blood test to check for heartworm disease is typically mandatory prior to starting your dog on Heartgard Plus. Variables such as prevalence of heartworm disease in the area, missed or late doses of heartworm preventative, and your dog’s lifestyle will determine the frequency of heartworm testing. Your veterinarian is the best person to talk to regarding the frequency of heartworm testing.
Only give this medication to the dog for which it has been prescribed. Do not split tablets and give each dose exactly as directed by your veterinarian. Do not double dose. If you miss a dose, check with your veterinarian before restarting your dog on Heartgard Plus.
How does this medication work? Monthly administration of Heartgard Plus as directed by your veterinarian should effectively kill immature heartworms introduced to the dog within 30 days.
Heartworm larvae (immature heartworms) that your dog has been exposed to in the preceding month should be killed and hookworms and roundworms are effectively controlled and treated with Heartgard Plus. This should help protect your dog from adult heartworms that can lead to active heartworm infection while providing protection against intestinal parasites.
What form(s) does Heartgard Plus come in? Heartgard Plus for medium dogs 26-50 lbs is tablet that is flavored. Heartgard tablets are chewable.
Generic Name: Ivermectin, Pyrantel Pamoate
Common Brand Name: Heartgard Plus (Merial)

Do not give two doses at once. Heartgard Plus should only be given to the dog that it has been prescribed for. Do not split tablets. If the interval between doses is longer than one month, the efficacy of the drug may be reduced.
