Our five cats have been on Purina Cat Chow in various formulas, since they each "showed up" at our door, or were otherwise rescued. Sometimes I think that they rescued us! They are definitely spoiled, and have very different personalities. We're so glad that they let us live here, since this is their home, according to their way of thinking. Cat number 1 is a sweet ginger tabby, orange & white striped male, who we took to the vet, & was neutered as soon as he was old enough. Cat number 2 is a big, black and white "tuxedo" cat, who was just a baby when he was picked up by my man on a late August night, very close to the highway, where there is a lot of semi-truck traffic, as well as all kinds of cars, (many pulling boats or RVs). or he most likely would have died that night or the next day, either from being run over, or from the extreme triple-digit heat, (normal weather for August in our area), dehydration, starvation, or he could have easily been prey to the many wild predators along our very rural dirt/gravel road, where we can't see our closest neighbors; much to my man's delight, as he enjoys hunting & fishing in this beautiful isolated area. So, my man had just gotten off work, the 3p-11p shift, and turned off the highway onto our road, & all he saw was a small pair of eyes, and he told the creature "if you'll come to me, you can come home with me". The cute kitten ran to him, started purring very loudly, and was now our second cat. When I got off work the next morning, my man was sleeping soundly, as the window air conditioner was on, and the kitten was purring loudly, under the covers, with my man in our bed. So, we had a regular double bed, with my man, a ginger boy cat, & now a very cute little tuxedo boy kitten. Quite the picture, if only I would have had the "smart" phone with a camera back then, I could have taken an adorable photo of them snuggled together; the big man snoring, the orange & white young adult (neutered) male kitty (who was more than a little jealous), and the too-cute little black & white tuxedo male kitten When our cats are younger, we start with Purina Kitten Chow, sometimes softened with warm water, if neccessary. Cat number 3 was a cute little gray & white young female tabby, & we fed her on the front porch at first (it was nice weather at that time), then she decided to come inside & check it out, & she never wanted to go outside again! She was very hungry, & a little bit "wild", & she quite rapidly gained weight, & kept getting wider. The Vet confirmed our diagnosis of pregnant, & said upon exam that she would have 3 or 4 kittens. She had 2 males & a female. That's how we ended up with 6 cats now - 3 adorable kittens, & the momma was a good momma, despite this being her first & last pregnancy. The 2 males kittens were about the normal weight for newborn kittens, but the female was the "runt" of the litter. So we now have 4 neutered males, & 2 spayed females. Then, in the winter of 2010/2011, we had a crazy blizzard, & we noticed a very feral little calico on the front porch, so we fed her, opened the door, & she ran into the house! She has never wanted to go outside again - to her, it's scary, cold (at that time), & she knew she had to hunt for her food out there! A lot of hissing & growling happened (boy, can she growl, something fierce!), when we first welcomed her, but she had to learn how to socialize with the other cats, & she had to learn how to "play"! Apparently, she was not around other cats in her early life, & she simply didn't know how to play. She eventually learned by watching the others play. Fortunately, she was not pregnant, & had never been pregnant, according to the Vet, who spayed her when she was older & stronger than the scrawny little girl that showed up during a blizzard, right after my Daddy died. She has always been my little angel from heaven! This brought us up to 7 cats, 4 males, & 3 females. Then, about a year later during deer season, this beautiful black cat showed up, so we started feeding him, & he loved it when he came inside. And he was already neutered, so he belonged to someone at some point, then ended up being abandoned or dumped, but he also had to learn about socialization & play from the other cats. That's how we ended up with 8 cats - 5 males, & 3 females, & they're all "fixed". We are back down to 5 cats now, 3 males & 2 females. We love giving our indoor-only cats the indoor formula, & they love it! They start to "panic" if they can see the bottom of any of their 5 bowls, even though they're fed at the same time each day, and there is usually some food in at least one of the bowls, at all times. Each cat's "rescue story" is as unique as they are, & they have been a delight in our lives. We have 6 large dogs outside, & they have shelter, food, & water, & they are our "security system", barking & growling loudly if someone is here. And they are acquainted with our rural letter carriers. What a blessing to have all of the cats & dogs, on 10 acres, as well as deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits, even armadillos! Never a dull moment around here!

Comments about Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula Dry Cat Food:

I have used this formula since my 1 yo Siamese started getting furballs. He is a strickly indoor cat who is very fussy about what he eats. I can say that he enjoys it most of the time yet still craves wet when he can complain enough to get it. I find this formula has controlled his furballs after using for amount 2 weeks. Happy mom-happy cat
