Comments about Atopica Liquid for Cats:

I adopted my 2 year old cat 1 month ago. He was on massive doses of prednisone and still had skin lesions and scabs. My vet and I talked about this and decided to add Atopica liquid. Too late. He has lost the sight in one eye from the prednsone dose and time on it BUT....the Atopica is working!!! We are weaning the prednisone and his skin is clear.
This stuff tastes awful. He gags with every dose. I will try the baby food additive to try to help but PLEASE make this stuff in a pill( not a capsule so large a cat can't swallow it). The pros out weight the cons here but be prepared to work on getting this stuff in your cat. Hope yours is declawed:)

Comments about Atopica Liquid for Cats:

I only gave it a three because it has taken forever to reach me and I needed it sooner than later which caused me to seek it from local Vets. Actually, I still don't have the product, but anticipate it any day now. It is now in the hands of my local post office.
The product itself doesn't show relieve immediately, but it certain stands the test of time. I have a cat very allergic to a lot of things and this does ease his pain (scratching, itching, breaking out).

Comments about Atopica Liquid for Cats:

This product has saved the life of my 7 year old cat who's had a long history of Eosinopholic Granuloma complex~EGC~ (rodent ulcer~hair loss, ulceration, swelling but no pain). Homeopathy worked when he was younger. But eventually everything I tried failed (steroid/abx) and he was starting to suffer because of the meds and severity. He was placed on Atopica and he is a new cat. It's been over 6 mths. I called the company, and their vet told me it's ok to administer the medication with baby food in the syringe. This is key; Otherwise my cat cannot tolerate it. I draw up the medication into the clean syringe first (never mix baby food in the vial of medication). Then I draw up the slighly liquid mixture I have made from the baby food to fill the syringe second. I administer it this way. Then he takes it ok. I then wash the syringe and plunger in warm soapy water and let them air dry separately. Their vet said this was ok to do too. I use Beechnut Turkey baby food. I create the baby food mixture by leaving a bit of food still in the baby jar and adding water (experiment with the ratio of baby food to water). I discard what is left in the jar after it's used. The baby food I remove initially is served to my other cats as a treat. They love it. I believe any flavor of baby food will do, Beech Nut does not seem to have preservatives or additives. The company sent me extra syringes because the tip of the plunger broke off. They are very helpful and supportive! You can talk to their vet if you need to. I got the baby food tip from someone else online. It's been miraculous.

Comments about Atopica Liquid for Cats:

We adopted a 3 yr old brown tabby from the local humane society. We noticed right away that she was covered in scabs which the shelter was told (by her previous owner) that the other cats in her household were attacking her at the food dish. It was 2 days before I realized that she had no teeth as well. Our vet was stymied by her condition. Here was the sweetest cuddliest cat she had ever seen, but she was wracked with health issues and was full grown at just 6 lbs. We tried steroids and they solved her skin issue but her throat was still red and inflamed and her ears were filled with wax and she had trouble hearing. It was 8 months later that the vet recommended Atopica as it had just been approved for cats. It cleared up everything! She is no longer on steroids and is finally feeling like a normal cat. She still hovers around 6 lbs but is now active and independent. Her throat is back to normal and her coat is plushy and beautiful. She even has less issues with her ears. It's wonderful!

Comments about Atopica Liquid for Cats:

This product has really worked for my cat's itching, but now as I look online and do research, I realize that although it has taken away her itching completely and allowed her coat to return to it's thick, soft character (rather than scabs and bare spots), I am concerned that by lowering her immune system, it may be exposing her to health risks for the future, and even shortening her life because of its effect on her internal organs. Just really make sure you know what you are giving your pet.
