Poor Edie suffers from Chronic Pancreatitis and not that long ago we were having flare ups left and right. I tried changing her to a low fat diet, giving her pepcid, etc. but she would still have flare ups. It was time to switch to a prescription diet and after researching the other brands, I thought that Royal Canin not only had the best reviews, but also the healthiest ingredients (I try to stay away from byproducts). Since switching to RC we have not had ANY episodes! She loves the taste and the fact that she now gets to eat lunch. :)

The only downfall is that because it is so low in fat, you have to feed your dog double the amount or more to make up for it. For instance Edie, a 20 lb. Welsh Terrier went from 1 cup a day to 2.5 cups on the Royal Canin. So, it's about $35 every 3 weeks but Pet Food Direct makes it so easy, we have it set to automatically send a new bag every 3 weeks and because we are in Southern California, it comes the next day!

It works well for us because Edie is small, but if you have a bigger dog just beware that you will run out even faster and this may not financially be the best option for you. That being said, I could not be happier with Royal Canin as my dog loves the taste and is healthier than ever!

Why the formula had changed?

Changing formulas is affecting the health of my dog and I don't appreciate it.

My baby was diagnosed with CIL last April. The prognosis wasn't good. I put him on RC LF and the swelling left immediately. Although I did end up adding a Tablespoon of potatoes, some fiber powder and a little ginger to his twice a day feedings, he has been symptom free for 9 months. I have NOT had to use any prescription meds (as yet) for him. I am so grateful for this product.
