Having been around cats my entire life, & trying a variety of foods, from the big brand names you see constant commercials about on tv, to what many local stores & some large pet shops consider high quality, you know the familiar cheaper brands I am talking about, Meow Mix, Friskies, Whiskas, the cheapy store brands, & others like Iams, Purina One, etc., ones most stores consider high quality. Growing up with my parents feeding those brands to our cats, & up until recently, I fed my last cat I had stuff like Purina One, Iams, etc., I was big on Iams, as that was what the local pet store where I used to live near had always claimed to be such a great food. Nothing against them, but wow, was I getting fooled.
My little monster is almost 1yr old (5/20/13), I adopted him on July 7th, 2013. From day one I was adamant about having him on a grain free diet. When I adopted him from the shelter, they were feeding him the good old Purina Kitten chow. I immediately tried to switch him over to Wellness Core Kitten. After weeks of trying, he just didn't like it. After talking to my local pet store here where I now live, who is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to high quality foods, they had me try him on Taste of the Wild. He has loved it from day one.
Eating a strict diet of Taste of the Wild dry food, with some occasional Weruva wet food (I also highly recommend this wet food, it's one of the best), he is so incredibly healthy. I have been around cats all my life, & I have never, ever, seen a cat with such silky soft fur. It's amazing how healthy he looks, how soft his fur is, healthy teeth, & boy does he have energy. Way more than I do lol. He eats freely as far as his dry food, eating roughly 1 - 1 1/4 cup a day. Every couple days as a treat I'll give him about 1/2 of a 3oz can of Weruva grain free wet food. I highly, highly recommend both to any loving cat owner. I purchase the 15lb bag of his dry Taste of the Wild food, & it lasts him about 2.5 months. Just to give you an idea of how long you can expect a bag to last. The smaller 5lb bags, will last roughly 5 weeks.
If you want a happy, healthy, energetic, kitten with soft as silk fur, this food is for you & your kitty. I would definitely recommend this to absolutely anyone. I cannot recommend it enough. It's Puuuurrrrfect :)

I am a mom to 4 cats and a beagle. Once I switched to grain free (~8 months ago) I was feeding them all Orijen but it was really adding up, so I switched to TOTW (~2 months ago) because it got great reviews, has good ingredients, and you simply cannot beat the price.I am so sad to say I have to switch them all (which is why I am on this site! Doing some research). Lucy the beagle and the cats never finish a bowl of kibble and they never seem enthusiastic to eat-- EVER. I have always mixed Lucy's food with about 2 tbsp of wet food, but since starting TOTW she always leaves at least 15-20 kibbles.I noticed change with Lucy more than with the cats, but her coat is not as shiny, she is much less active, and she's actually gained weight. Most surprisingly, I absolutely cannot believe the amount of poop coming out of this dog!! She is about 25 pounds and poops like a bear! It's like she's not absorbing any of the nutrients. The cats also seem less active and I have noticed more hairballs with my two fluffy ones. That may not be connected to the food, though. It is confusing to me, because I have heard SO many good things about this food and I have a friend who has fed it to her three dogs (beagle mix, lab mix, husky mix) for years and they are thriving. I must have had bad luck! I would still recommend this food though. Every cat & dog is different.

Comments about Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Feline Formula Roasted Venison & Smoked Salmon Dry Cat Food:

I give this food to "my" feral cats and they are thriving on it. I always like to joke that my ferals are eating better than most indoor pampered cats with their heavily grain-laden diets. CATS SHOULD NOT EAT GRAINS - of any kind. (neither should humans but we won't go into that here.) This is a good high-protein, grain-free food for extremely active cats, so it should be great for your indoor lovelies, too.

After researching and trying different foods, Taste of the Wild is the winner! All 7 cats love it, their coats are shiny, it is easy on their digestive system and they have the benefit of added, natural nutrients. A bit more expensive than others, but well worth if for good health and happy cats! I catch it on sale right here!
