Did you know…
Recently, Meow, weighing in at whopping 39-pounds and known as the nation’s most overweight cat, died from complications due to obesity. While your cat may not tip the scales at 39-pounds, it’s important to keep your kitty fit and frisky. Here are some helpful tips…
A Healthy Diet
Feed your cat a quality, high protein, low carbohydrate diet. As carnivores, if your cat only eats a diet of dry food and processed treats, he or she will gain weight without the proper physical activity. Additionally, occasionally add some cooked chicken, beef, or fish.
While you aren’t going to take your pet on a jog or to play Frisbee, you can keep him or her active playing different kinds of games such as chasing an electronic mouse or laser light pointer, batting at a feather tied to the end of a string, or even rolling a ball until you get a response.
King of the Jungle
There are many types of cat habitats available that also double as feline jungle gyms, including those with high perches for jumping and observing the world from and sisal rope to stretch and scratch on.
