After spending literally thousands of dollars on a horrible IBD/food allergy condition that my cat has in addition to a heart murmur, I think I have found the perfect protocol to keep him healthy. This Royal Canin prescription formula is one of three things that have helped him with his horrible IBD. This Rabbit formula in addition to Natural Balance Duck and Pea for variety and Ark Naturals Gentle Digest Probiotic every day has worked miracles for Mango's vomiting and horrid diarrhea. Mango has not been able to gain weight for a couple of years and after a very strict regimen of these 3 things, his digestive tract seems to have settled down and he has been able to gain weight. He was steadily losing weight for the last year or two and finally he has the ability to gain weight again at 11 1/2 years old. My advice to cat owners who have a cat with IBD is be patient and get your cat on the correct Limited Ingredient Diet. In Mango's case I had to separate him at meal times from my cat who is on a special reduced calorie diet food for which the main ingredient is chicken. After some months of not being able to sneak a mouthful here and there of the chicken based food, Mango started showing remarkable signs of improvement. Now my other cat is starting to show signs that she is allergic to her chicken based food so I will probably have to switch her to the Royal Canin Rabbit.

This food, like many other pet foods, contains food grade carrageenan. However, studies have shown that after all the processing that pet foods undergo during manufacture, food grade carrageenan results in degraded carrageenan. Just google degraded carrageenan and you will find it is not good for your pet. It is also used in human food, so you probably want to avoid eating any foods which contain it as an ingredient.

Only food cat can tolerate!

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hypoallergenic Selected Protein Adult PR Canned Cat Food:

My Bengal suddenly came down with IBD and became unable to tolerate any kid of dry and most kinds of wet food. My vet suggested this, and her vomiting which used to be a daily occurrence (sometimes even up to several times a day) has stopped completely! It's a bit costly but so worth it for her tolerance.

I wish it came in smaller portions

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hypoallergenic Selected Protein Adult PR Canned Cat Food:

This is great for my elderly cat who has a very sensitive stomach. The only problem is that she takes a while to go through the 8 lb bag and the large 5 oz cans, so a lot of it gets wasted. I have searched for ways to keep it fresh, but have found nothing very acceptable. When a fresh bag is opened, she devours it, but after a few weeks, she doesn't want anything to do with it. I transfer it to a smaller container to keep from drying it out with continuous opening, but to no avail. A 2 or 4 lb bag, and cans half the size would be a very helpful option.

Used them for several months and shipped orders fast. Then one of my shipments didn't come. It was cancelled without notification.

Poor system! Said they were out of stick with no explanation when I called.

No longer a customer.

The food is great if your cat has inflammatory disease.
