After adopting an under weight, dirty, matted 2 year old female Pomeranian, whom had a past filled with neglect and abandonment, I was confused and bewildered to find that she would not eat regular top name brands of wet or dry dog foods. I mean, why was she so darn fussy?. Everyday, I would put her wet food and a bowl of fresh water on her special little mat on the floor for her, to only throw the dried up canned food in the trash 12 hours later. Besides that, she hadn't touched her dry food either. She was surviving on the treats I bought for her at the local feed store "Moore Than Feed" located here in my neighborhood. I can actually say that I was at my wits end trying to figure her out. So, one day, I asked the owner of the feed store what she would recommend and what she fed her dogs. She took me to the display for Merrick. She told me that they were the only brand in her store than she would recommend. "They put into their foods what they say they put into their foods." So, I tried it......................I bought one small 3.2 oz can of Cowboy Cookout, because I still felt shy about spending more money to just throw it away. I went right home and fed her her usual amount which was just a couple of heaping teaspoons. And, with my mouth gaping open, I watched her eat the whole thing! She ate it all, licking the little china plate clean. That one small can lasted 3 days, and when I threw the can away, it was empty!!!!! And another thing too; She got her appetite back! She now lets me know, now, that she wants more! So, I give her a little more! This is unbelieveable! It has been over two years of watching my little ball of sunshine go without eating what she should!

The first case I bought of this flavor my dogs loved. The last case was mostly soup, a few cans only had meat and one had all vegetables. The current case has proven to be not liquid as of yet but all meat. The first case was a mix of meat and vegetables in a gravy. The dogs do NOT like these at all. I feel I wasted a ton of money on these cases.

    Post-Surgery Wet Food

Comments about Merrick Grain Free Cowboy Cookout Classic Recipe Canned Dog Food:

I am always skeptical about buying my little Maltese dog food. I feed her top of the line dry food usually and did extensive research before settling on her dry food. When the vet told me she needed some wet food for about a week after her dental surgery, I was at a loss. With a bit of research I found Merrick. I am so happy with the products. Leila, who is traditionally a picky eater, gobbles the food up. I feel great about offering her food with actual chunks of meat, vegetables and gravy. She's now eating better than we are.

we adopted a 4 month old rat terrier 7 months ago. I have had the worst time finding something she'll eat. I tried numerous dry and wet foods, she wouldn't eat any of them. then I went to boiling chicken and cooking her salmon and adding to them. she'd find a way to pick out the good stuff and leave the canned. I was so concerned about her not getting her nutrients. I was ready to take her to the vet and at wits end. this weekend on a whim I pick up a small can of cowboy cookout. SHE ATE THE WHOLE CAN (the small can). nothing added to it either. I am just overjoyed. thanks merrick

Cowboy Cookout worthy of John Wayne

    By Whitney

Comments about Merrick Grain Free Cowboy Cookout Classic Recipe Canned Dog Food:

My six-year-old chocolate lab loves ALL Merrick food, but his absolute favorite is the Cowboy Cookout. With its savory beef, potatoes, carrots and apples, it's my pup's favorite dinner after a day of wrangling tennis balls. He won't turn his nose up at any food, but this one gets an extra head tilt, perkier ears, and a little extra prance in his step.
