Comments about Hill's Science Diet Mature Adult Hairball Control Dry Cat Food:

I used Science Diet hairball formula over the years for my 18-year old cat, with good results. When I brought home twin strays to provide companionship (mistake, 18 year old cats do not adapt well to change)
they naturally had hairball formula mixed into their feed. This kibble used to be medium sized kibble, like a very small Hershey's kiss. Why they changed it is a mystery. This new stuff is huge, way too large for a cat's mouth (about the size of a gumball from a machine), and hard as concrete. My old guy gave it a go, but could never do more than chip a piece off the edge of the kibble, throw that one on the floor, and try again on a new one. The two-year-olds with saber-tooth teeth tried, couldn't get the kibble in their mouth to chew it, and ended up flinging all the hairball stuff out of their dishes so they could eat the normal diet. I ended up tossing the entire 15 pounds because the cats absolutely could/would not eat it. This formula is suitable for Great Danes, lions, cougar, and other large carnivores. I am sorry the old formula is not longer available. Perhaps the makers were going for a one-size-fits-all hairball kibble. Just FYI, one size doesn't fit all. Can't attest to its effectiveness because cats never got enough in them to assess.

I have 2 long haired male indoor cats, and this food has been wonderful to control the hairballs. I have used it for years, just graduating to the mature age group for the cats. They love the taste, and I love how I don't find many suprises !

Comments about Hill's Science Diet Mature Adult Hairball Control Dry Cat Food:

I have learned to face the fact that I have fussy old cats. The oldest is 12 and the youngest is 10 years old. To keep these girls happy with taste and hair-ball free I give them Science Diet Senior Hair Ball Control Food. They like the taste but for the younger cat the pieces are too chunky to chew. She does eat it, though, and as a result there's no problem with hair ball thanks to Science Diet. I'd recommend this to anyone with senior cats.
