The Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research
In 2003 the Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research and the Pet Cancer Awareness Program was formed to bolster awareness about pet cancer and raise support and money for various clinics and universities that conduct research on the causes of, treatment and prevention of cats and dogs with the disease.
Educating pet parents about reducing the risk of cancer in their pets as well as noticing the warning signs is one of the main functions of our mission. We’ve created a web site at petcancerawareness.org that is committed to providing all kinds of important information like cancer facts, valuable resources and even heartwarming stories about pets with cancer. You can make a donation here.
The month of May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month when we strive to raise funds to help fight against pet cancer. The funds raised are then distributed to organizations like the Morris Animal Foundation, the National Canine Cancer Foundation and others who are involved with cutting edge research on treatments and a cure for this disease. Because pet cancer affects whole families as well pets, we’ve added organizations like the Riedel and Cody Fund and the Kate Koogler Canine Cancer Fund among others. These organizations help pay the high cost of treatments for families who may not have the means to afford their pet’s care.
