We lost our 11 year old Maine Coon a few months back. As he was my father's favorite cat, my father took it very hard. Being worried about my father's health I found a breeder of Silver MCs and was lucky enough to get one from a litter of kittens the mother recently had. We waited 6 weeks to get him. He was 8 weeks old by the time we brought him home.
Anyway, the breeder insisted we use this dry food mixed with Iams kitten dry food.
Well, everyone in the house (2-5yr olds and 2 tweens) love this food. It is now at two of our three feeded stations. At the third feeding station we feed Hill's MD as recommended by our vet. The Hill's was recomened by our vet for the MC that passed over the rainbow bridge. But, my little 5 yr. girl Penny loves this food and it has kept her slim and trim.
We are happy that all of our cats enjoy the Canin.

It amazes me the people who review this food and actually do no research on it. This food is a poor quality, very expensive food. It is stocked full of corn and corn products which have been proved to be very bad for cats. It's first ingredient is a 'meal' and not even a whole meat source. Corn is linked to health problems in cats.

From DVM's
" Dr. Jean Hofve, DVM, a holistic veterinarian in Jamestown, Colorado. Even some premium pet foods list corn or corn-gluten meal among the top ingredients, but these foods do little other than keep costs down. They do help to form the kibble, and corn-gluten meal is a cheap source of protein, but too much can contribute to health problems, especially in cats"

"Dr. T. J. Dunn, Jr. DVM performed an informal observation of over 1000 cats and dogs. His conclusions were: Pets who where solely fed a cheap, grain-based pet food have course, brittle hair coat, and dry skin but the coat will seem slightly greasy and dusty. The pet will probably itch. It will eat a lot of food because the pet is nutrient starved.

Dr. Funaba from the Laboratory of Nutrition, Azabu University School of Veterinary Medicine Japan, performed a clinical study about meat meal vs. corn gluten meal. CONCLUSIONS: Meat meal was superior to corn gluten meal as a protein source in dry foods formulated for cats, because dry-matter digestibility and Nutilization were higher for the meat meal diet. In addition, net loss of body calcium and magnesium for the corn gluten meal diet suggests that mineral requirements increase when corn gluten meal is used as a protein source."

Fixed my cats

By Gusewus

Comments about Royal Canin Feline Health Nutrition Special 33 Dry Cat Food:

This food is great I have an older Himalayan kitten that has a very sensitive stomach he had diarrhea when I first got him and I kept trying different food brands and royal canine kitten food was the only food that stopped it. But now months later he has been passing to much stool and I have to clean out the litter box at least 8 times a day because the stink he had foul smelling stool that would stink out my house, so I decided to try this with the sensitive can food and it worked right away he now goes once a day and no more stink! I'm so happy this food totally caters to sensitive cats and fixes it. I also feed it to my 4 month old kitten because they like to eat the same food and he also had the stinky stool from the kitten food he dosent have a sensitive stomach but he was always gassy before switching to this, if your cat has digestive sensitivity than it will help I couldn't believe how fast it worked plus my sensitive cat has stopped begging for food hourly than wasting it now he eats more food and has a normal feeding schedule, and the cats love the taste. Royal Canine is the best it's worth the expense and you will have a healthy cat.

My cats are healthier on this.

Comments about Royal Canin Feline Health Nutrition Special 33 Dry Cat Food:

First started using Special 33 when vet put my older MC on it due to chronic digestive issues. By the time the bag was finished he was almost a different cat. Meanwhile you 1 yo MC/DLH started turning his nose up at his commercial chow in favor of Special 33. So, I have just left them both on it.They don't have to eat as much, they don't poop as much and when they do, it doesn't stink up the place. They are both in excellent health. Vet says it is still ok to feed both cats. I wouldn't want to change unless I needed to.

We won't buy anything else!

Comments about Royal Canin Feline Health Nutrition Special 33 Dry Cat Food:

We first bought this food when one of our 3 cats developed gastritis. It is impossible to separate feeding among the 3..... so they all eat it. Because of the cost we slowly tried to switch to IAMS once things had cleared up, but he had immediate GI issues again. Now they are back on Royal Canin 33 and will stay on it forever!! :)
