Possible Side Effects:
- Flavored tablets can be chewed so they are easy to administer.
- Kills fleas before they have the chance to lay eggs and provides protection for one month.
- Contains Spinosad which is environmentally friendly.
Rarely, side effects have been reported when Comfortis is given at the recommended dosage. Possible side effects include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, cough, excessive thirst, vocalization, increased appetite, redness of skin, hyperactivity, and excessive salivation. If your dog acts unusual in any way after he/she is given Comfortis, consult your veterinarian immediately. If your dog is truly allergic to Comfortis, he/she may experience facial swelling, hives, scratching, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma. If you think your pet is experiencing an allergic reaction to this medication, contact your veterinarian without delay.Drug and Food Interactions:
Always tell your veterinarian about any medications, supplements, or vitamins your dog is taking before giving him/her Comfortis. Avoid use of this medication in animals that are receiving high doses of ivermectin, as ivermectin toxicity may occur.Precautions:
Do not use Comfortis in animals who are hypersensitive (allergic) to spinosad. This medication should be used with caution in breeding, pregnant or lactating animals (female animals nursing their young). Spinosad can enter the mother's milk. If your dog is lactating, consult your veterinarian before using this product. It is uncertain whether it is safe to give Comfortis to breeding males as studies have not been performed. If your dog/puppy is less than 14 weeks of age, he/she should not be given Comfortis. If your dog takes ivermectin, giving Comfortis at the same time may not be safe. Do not use this medication in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy without speaking with your veterinarian as it should be used with caution in these animals.Storage:
Comfortis should be stored at room temperature and out of reach of children and pets.
