I have two cats, one male and one female, who are now ages 13 & 14, but you'd never know it because they are so healthy. They look 1/2 their age. From 2005-2012, I fed them Purina's Indoor Formula because both of them like to eat too much. They are mostly outdoor cats in a quiet, safe neighborhood but have access to the garage where all their stuff is staged: beds, blankets, toys, cat tree, cubes, boxes, food, and water. When the weather is bad or below 40 deg F, they come inside. They are also constant companions after hours. They groom, cuddle, and sleep together at night. I think this explains in large part why they look so much younger than they are. THEY'RE HAPPY CATS! By 2012, however, I noticed that they were becoming older after I saw some of their old snapshots. They're faces had gotten skinny. I felt guilty for having fed them Purina Indoor Formula for years. So, I did some research and gave IAMS Senior Plus 11+ cat food a try. I slowly transitioned them from indoor to senior plus and they never once got sick. They also seem to enjoy this food and haven't lost any weight, which is a good thing in this situation. They've been eating it for almost a year and the other day (Aug 2013) I noticed them playing outside. The oldest was playing attack cat. It had been a long while since I caught them playing like that. So, I'm not sure if it was coincidence or if the food really lives up to its claims. But, I'm not changing their food despite the expense. If I could afford it, I'd probably feed them the premium/advanced version of IAMS Senior Plus 11+ cat food, but I can't afford it. I do recommend this product.

It would seem intuitively obvious that an older cat could benefit from some kidney support in your dry food. You have nice diagrams on the bag, but surprisingly, no kidney drawing. I know you sell a separate blend under a Veterinarian Diet. Certainly do not want to compete with that! But you could include a modest amount of kidney dry food content for older cats, and add another drawing to your bag.

my 18 yr old loves it

Comments about Iams Proactive Health Senior Plus 11+ Dry Cat Food:

I have a tiny 18 y/o cat and it was hard to find her hard food she would eat and we sure dont want her to lose anymore weight. She has arthritis also. We thought we would try the food since we have always had our cats on Iams formulas since they were kittens. We bought a bag to try and she loves it, she is always at it eating away. She seems more perky and happy now, not bad for an 18 almost 19 y/o female kitizen

Comments about Iams Proactive Health Senior Plus 11+ Dry Cat Food:

My now 18 yr. old female cat had a hard time a year or two ago walking, jumping, etc. I started her on "Lively Senior" and it seems like her aches & pains got so much better! She's still doing well, and although she doesn't run much anymore, she's eating well & seems like a happy girl.

I have two cats that are over 10 years old. This is the only food they will eat. Unfortunately, it's extremely hard for me to find! :(
