Put your thumb and index finger around the applicator tip under the large disk and grasp the stem of applicator tip above the small disk with your other hand. Press down firmly on the small disk until both disks meet. This should pierce the seal. Part the hair so you can visualize the skin. Place the liquid on your dog’s back beginning between the shoulder blade and downward using the following directions based on your dog’s body weight. Avoid superficial application to your dog’s hair. :
For dogs weighing 2 .5 to 20 lbs, apply all liquid to 1 spot until the tube is empty, as shown in the diagram
For dogs weighing 21 to 55 lbs OR for dogs weighing 56 to 95 lbs, apply all liquid to 3 spots as demonstrated in the diagram until the tube is empty.
For dogs weighing over 95 lbs, liquid should be applied evenly to 4 spots on the dog's back as shown in the diagram until the tube is empty.
How does this medication work? This medication works primarily due to 3 ingredients: Dinotefuran, Permethrin, and Pyriproxyfen. Dinotefuran helps to provide quick action so that fleas are killed rapidly. It causes death by causing continuous nerve stimulation which eventually results in tremors and death. Permethrin causes the affected parasite to lose nerve control. This helps to repel vectors (carriers of disease). Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator (IGR). It is effective in preventing the development of all flea life stages including eggs and larvae.
What results can I expect? Vectra 3D kills adult fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, lice, and sand flies. It kills on contact and adult fleas should start to die quickly (within 2 hours). Applications are effective for 30 days. This medication also works to prevent new adult fleas from developing since it kills fleas in the immature part of the flea life cycle.
What Form(s) does Vectra 3D come in?Each vial contains liquid that is applied to your dog’s skin (topical medication). Different sizes are available to accommodate your dog’s body weight.
