Comments about Halo Spot's Pate Grain Free Ground Chicken Recipe Canned Cat Food:

I feed this product in addition to the Felidae Grain Free Elements Chicken dry kibble, once a day, one 5.5 ounce can divided between two adult cats, one active under 2 years old, the other an overweight inactive senior. To be fair, the senior cat is fat, and shows no signs of stopping her expansion, BUT, I do not think it is this Halo food that is the problem, it is the Felidae kibble she overeats (a portion controlled auto-feeder has been ordered). Both cats LOVE this canned food. I have also tried every other canned grain free poultry brand out there (senior gets sick from other meats/fish), and also the non-pate "Spots STEW" version from Halo, and they either wont eat it, or it makes the senior cat vomit profusely. My cats vastly prefer PATE style canned foods above the ones with chunks and gravy, and they certainly are not going to eat a green pea or carrot! They LOVE this food, pure gooshy mush! This is the ONLY food I have found that the senior cat doesn't vomit back up. She eats about 1/3 of the can, then walks away, happy and content, and lets the little cat finish the rest. The other Halo Spot's Pate, Ground Whitefish, also causes her to vomit, and gave BOTH cats severe diarrhea for days both times I tried it. This formula (Chicken), this brand (Spot's Pate by Halo), is the BEST canned food for cats with sensitive stomachs. I'd go so far as to say it's better than many labelled as for sensitive cats, and even prescription sensitive diets, I am convinced, the evidence is clear in my cats' case! Since this is a pate with a very soft texture, I would also highly recommend it for cats with bad teeth, missing teeth, Stomatitis, or other oral difficulties, as this food does not require any chewing to be eaten and is a nice smooth texture. Not too thin, not soupy, but just right! The little bit of "juice" in the can is very much enjoyed by the older cat. An excellent food to wean formula-fed bottle kittens onto food with too, I suspect it will blend with formula very well.
