Purina Veterinary Diets EN GastroENteric Canine Formula Dry Dog Food is beneficial for your dogs health as well as for his nutrition.
The role of dietary management in canine gastrointestinal conditions is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient. Dietary fats from long chain triglycerides (LCT) can be one of the most complex nutrients to digest, and fermentation of undigested fats can contribute to diarrhea. Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) provide a readily digested and utilized energy source. Feeding a properly formulated diet designed to be highly digestible yet restricted in long chain triglycerides may be beneficial in the management of certain gastrointestinal conditions while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal.

My Vet finally recommended this dog food for my Girl, that has a litter of puppies. When the pups were about two weeks old, she started having severe diarrhea. After a few treatment and vet visits, I was told to try this dog food. Today is day three on it and it's working. NO more runny stool. Hopefully it takes care of whatever was causing her intestinal problems. Puppies are now six weeks old, so she's had it for four weeks. 2-3 of the puppies have diarrhea too, but I'm hoping theirs is caused from the over 100 degree heat the past 1-2 weeks. We'll see.

My vet prescribed this for my Great Dane who survived the dreaded bloat and was having digestive problems afterwards. I don't think it tastes that great and it gives both my dogs stinky breath. But they eat it and it gets rid of his diarrhea. They do however love the canned version.

Our puppy suffered with diarrhea and had been treated with a variety of medications. Finally our vet ordered Purina's GastroENteric diet. No more diarrhea and Cleo loves the food. She goes once a day now and her stools are formed and easy to pick up.

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets EN GastroENteric Canine Formula Dry:

Our Lab is now 16 and still going strong. The last 2 years he has only eaten this EN pet food due to diarrhea, soft stool issues and sensitive stomach. By removing all the junk from the food he has a stable diet to get all of his nutrients and has a good quality of life , given his age. I would highly recommend this product. I buy the dry to save money, however, I add water and let sit for about 20-30 minutes and its soft for him to chew due to his age and condition of his teeth. The "wet" En is too expensive but the water does the trick.
