This specialized formula is highly digestible, low in fiber and a great source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Purina Veterinary Diets EN GastroENteric Canine Formula Dry Dog Food is beneficial for your dogs health as well as for his nutrition.
The role of dietary management in canine gastrointestinal conditions is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient. Dietary fats from long chain triglycerides (LCT) can be one of the most complex nutrients to digest, and fermentation of undigested fats can contribute to diarrhea. Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) provide a readily digested and utilized energy source. Feeding a properly formulated diet designed to be highly digestible yet restricted in long chain triglycerides may be beneficial in the management of certain gastrointestinal conditions while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal.

My Vet finally recommended this dog food for my Girl, that has a litter of puppies. When the pups were about two weeks old, she started having severe diarrhea. After a few treatment and vet visits, I was told to try this dog food. Today is day three on it and it's working. NO more runny stool. Hopefully it takes care of whatever was causing her intestinal problems. Puppies are now six weeks old, so she's had it for four weeks. 2-3 of the puppies have diarrhea too, but I'm hoping theirs is caused from the over 100 degree heat the past 1-2 weeks. We'll see.

I bought this because my vet adviced so as my dog came with some problems in her digestive system. We only used it (canned version) for 5-6 days. The inflamation got healed as this food is very easy to digest. However, I changed the food afterwards as I do not like the ingrdients (derivatives). I now feed her with another (expensive) dry food (not specific for digestive issues) that only has salomon and rice. No derivatives. If purina comes with a holistic - free of gluten - food with proper ingredients for carnivores (dogs do not need corn or barley), I will buy it.

EN is an amazing canine diet. I feed it to my Show Bullmastiffs and French Bulldogs. The dogs LOVE it, their coats are great and they have small firm stools!

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets EN GastroENteric Canine Formula Dry:

My 4 lb. chihuahua loves this food, especially with her sensitive stomach, but the last few times we have purchased, the food is very hard and difficult for her to chew. We usually need to crush it up into bite sized pieces so she doesn't swallow each piece whole. Worth it to us though since our dog has pancreatitis and has severe episodes of stomach pain, especially when she strays from the diet.
