We have a dear little Norwich Terrior named Monti. When he was a puppy he developed urinary crystals which caused him painful urination we noticed it because he was having accidents in the house from holding his urine for long periods of time. Since starting this diet he no longer suffers from crystals. Within a few days of feeding him anything but this, for instance if he has too many treats or dental nuggets we have found he quickly develops crystals and has urinary issues so we keep him away for any other foods.

It is a RX product so not much choice of using it. It certainly has taken care of the crystal issue and much cheaper than surgery for my little Bishon. I have 2 dogs that are each on a RX diet with
crystals. I alternate between buying at the vet and using Pet Food Direct. I'm not always happy with the delivery of Pet Food Direct. Sometimes it takes 1 day and other times it takes a week and I get an e-mail that they are checking with the vet Why? Its a lifetime RX so they should look at the protocol for doing this. Overall pricing is about average-expensive no matter what.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Dog Food:

We kept having urinary problems every since our springer spaniel was a pup...... thought she'd die young because it was such an ongoing problem. After quite a few vet bills, the vet recommended this food and we have never had another urinary problem!!

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Dog Food:

Without Petfooddirect we would have a hard time finding our dog's special needs food. It is so much easier to obtain it from Petfooddirect than to try and find a Veterinary that would even order SO dog food. Even better, Petfooddirect pricing is such that we can order the larger size (~25 lb.)bag for what the Veterinary charged for the smaller bag.

      My Paisley loves this food

      By glow

      from Newark, Ohio, United States

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Dog Food:

My Paisley is a shih-tzu mix & from the time she was around 12 weeks old she has been on this food. She is 2 yrs old now & I have never had any problem getting her to eat this food !! When she was around 8 weeks old I noticed her urine was dark orange. I took her to my vet & they checked her urine & found she was full of crystals (Kidney /bladder stones). So my vet put her on Royal Canin Urinary S/O. She has done wonderful on this food. I decided to keep her on this food. I have her urine checked every few months & it has been clear so far !! I would highly recommend Royal Canin Urinary S/O !!!

        Concerned about ingredients

        By Osujace

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Dog Food:

I decided to switch from hills prescription diet to this brand, but had always had my dog on blue buffalo, for 8 years!! The first ingredient in BB is real meat, not so in this prescription brand or hills. I'm concerned my dog is not receiving adequate nutrition, especially for the price!!!
