Miss Shana is an old girl at 16 and now has Chronic Renal Failure (CRF), which is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney. Furthermore, she has protein allergies to beef ... eating it results in open sores. Therefore, she has always been on a high-quality, pure content (no beef by-products as fillers) diet. I feared switching her diet would be a nightmare. She loves the little cans with the chuncky food and has started to gain back much of the weight she has lost over the past year! Now, the tricky part is keeping her sister out of her food =^..^=

Ms Winnie is a very picky eater but she is older now with Kidney problems and I do not want her to be in pain or die earlier than her time so I listened to my Vet Doc and bought her this food. At first it was OK but she likes varity and that is not offered in Medicine Food but it should be, and so should the fact that this food be affordable for people who loves and cares for their pets and do not want to loss their pets. She is part of my family and if people has choices so should my cat. So if a cat food company is reading this improve please so that my cat family can live a long and good life as well as anyone else. thanks

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal LP Modified Morsels in Gravy Canned Cat Food:

My cat Mr. Boopers is a 6 year old American Shorthair with a recent diagnosis of CKD; his left kidney is completely gone and in an attempt to save the right for as long as possible we placed him on this. Our cats have always eaten Royal Canine but Mr. Boopers is a hard nut to crack and flat out refused any food except his old dry cat food. I had to mix in some of the cheaper "tastier" food with this and bribe him with his favorite treats for the first month but now he begs for this food! I leave the morsels whole since he is still a young cat and he likes the bigger chunks, he also really likes them warmed up a tad in the microwave. If I could get him to eat this food, any picky cat will eat it!

At 12 years old my Himalayan was diagnosed with kidney issues and prescribed RK Renal. He hated it. At first. One day I was rubbing his smush-face and watching him eat. The chunks were hard for him to manipulate onto his tongue.

Since I started mashing the chunks--and adding a little chunk white tuna (also high protein and likable)--he devours the whole bowl.

Just 'cause this missed the development team, doesn't mean the cat does't like it.

This is the only Renal wet food formula my cat will even lick. However, I always have some that is left over, even after feeding only 1/2 can to 2 cats. I feel I should be giving wet food for renal health, so this is the best choice.
