If this product expensive? Yes....but you get what you pay for. Knowing you can feed this product and not have to worry about your cat developing more urinary tract issues is: PRICELESS! I spent $1700 in vet bills before I found this product. There are others that claim to be sensitive to the needs of cats with urinary tract issues but don't do any better at preventing problems that any other ordinary food. This product actually does what it promises, no ifs ands or buts! Terrific product and my picky eater car loves it!

The only good thing I can say about this food is that my cat hasn't gotten bladder stones again since he's been eating it. He needed two surgeries in 2010 to get rid of the oxalate stones. Nothing will dissolve these stones, so they need to be prevented at all costs. I know this food is garbage because his coat is dull, he has dandruff, and he pukes up the food regularly. However, the stones are life-threatening and as long as they don't come back, I'll keep buying this expensive garbage food. I would only recommend this as a last resort if you cat has recurring oxalate stones. Otherwise, it is garbage and I truly feel bad that I have to feed it to my cat.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Cat Food:

I was told by my vet to use this food for my young male cat after he had a urinary tract infection. Since I have 2 other indoor cats and one outdoor cat, I asked about putting them all on the same food and was told it would be fine for all. All four have been on the SO 33 for years and it seems to suit them all and appears to help produce a healthy, glossy coat.
I would be happier if the cost was much lower as I am spending a lot of a small retirement income on cat food.

My cat requires a special urinary formula. At 2 years of age he developed bladder stones which needed to be removed surgically. He has been on this brand ever since and he is now 10 years old. I mix the regular and diet formula since he is a tad heavy.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Dry Cat Food:

This food was recommended by our Vet after our 8 year old male cat developed a urinary condition. We had no problem transitioning him from the food he had been eating to this new food. Our other cat (brothers) also took to the new food without a problem. My male cat with the urinary issue has been doing much better since this switch in diet.

My male cat has a history of urinary tract problems. He is on this food to keep crystals out of his urinary tract. I wish it were made with healthly overall ingrediants. Cats need lots of good quality protein. These are the first 4 ingrediants listed on label: "Chicken meal, brewers rice, corn gluten meal, corn".
