My 4 year old male has had digestive issues since he was 3 months old. I had been using Blue Buffalo Grain Free, but Toby was still having occassional issues with loose stools, etc. He has also always had bouts of a nasal issue that I was told to not worry about unless it ulcerated (really?). I decided to bite the bullet and try Wellness Core. I've had Toby and Mica on the Indoor formula for 3 weeks now, and it has made a night and day difference for both of them. Toby has had NO digestive trouble and his coat is much improved (was not expecting that one), and his nasal issues have seemingly gone away (*knock on wood*). Mica, my female, does not like the new food as much, but as she is a chunky monkey with whom I've been struggling, I look at that as a good thing. Both are now in GREAT body condition and have gone from kinda high energy to completely crazy, tormenting the dog. I would highly reccommend the food to others.

I know Wellness has a good reputation, and is one of the best known quality brands.. I've fed it in our cattery for years along with other high quality brands such as Innova and Nature's Variety. I was excited to see Wellness come out with a grain free dry food, so I gave it a try. Two out of 19 cats ate it; and I do NOT have a picky clan. It's expensive, and I wasn't impressed by the ingredients. To make matters worse, I've read a lot of discussions on natural feeding pet blogs about Wellness toting that their products are MADE in the USA, but that the ingredients are coming from overseas. the best thing to do is call them yourself, ask questions and judge for yourself by their answers. If you are going to spend your money, stick with Innova Evo and Nature's Variety. I wasn't happy with Core at all.

My cats won't eat it.

By JenM

Comments about Wellness CORE Grain Free Original Formula Dry Cat Food:

I have a grain-sensitive cat, which means all 4 of my cats eat grain-free. I typically feed a different brand but have, on occasion, switched brands when my favored brand has been out of stock. Recently I was at a pet store on the other side of town and needed cat food and this large chain apparently no longer carries my brand, so I tried Core, having heard great things about it. My cats typically go through a large bowl of food in 3 days, but it's been over a week and they haven't even eaten half the bowl. Instead, they've been raiding the dog's food. I've even picked them up from eating the dog food, carried them to the cat food, and they left the cat food and returned to the dog food to continue eating. I wish I could return this to the store. It was a total bust in our house.

Easy on the tummy!

Comments about Wellness CORE Grain Free Original Formula Dry Cat Food:

Our cat had digestive issues with common brands, and a friend who worked at a cat shelter recommended this product because of the high quality ingredients and lack of grains/corn meal that complicate digestion. Even though it is a bit pricer, we have found that it is totally worth it! Our girl no longer has her tummy troubles and has lots of energy throughout the day. We use this dry food in combination with Wellness Core/ Wellness cans.

We didn't think a cat could get healthier.

By Zoeys parent

Comments about Wellness CORE Grain Free Original Formula Dry Cat Food:

Our little girl was a street cat with kittens that sacrificed her wellbeing for her babies and came to the shelter with ear issues and some respiratory problems. She was brought back and was on the p.p.p when we got her. She had a lot of bloody stools and her ear was always oozing excess wax, with never an infection or mites. We switched her to a supposedly good food, glue. That help her stool issues but she started to reject their food after a year. Their formulation of biscuits and wet food changed and we were tired of showing that company that the food in the cans was not what it was labeled as. Well I did my research and Wellness was one of the foods our vet recommended. She now eats both the core original biscuits and the core original chicken turkey and chicken liver. All her issues have disappeared and her coat is silk. The biscuits do oxidized and become fishy as she doesn't go through the biscuits as fast as the wet food, so I jar up the biscuits and keep it in the fridge. I would try and purchase a smaller bag but pet smart carries only the large bag of the core original.

Wellness Grain Free original

By newmomott

Comments about Wellness CORE Grain Free Original Formula Dry Cat Food:

I have 2 cats, a 5 month old and a 17 year old. Our 5 month old was very gassy and stinky so the vet suggested the Gastro food from Hills but I did not like the ingredients in this food and since both cats eat from the same dish I didn't want our senior girl eating it either. So I did some research and Wellness was at the top of each article I found. I went to pet smart and got a small bag to try. It was a hit! both love it and no more stinky gas :) I figure if the vet was going to put our kitten on the gastro by hills then the Wellness core original would be good for him as well.
