We adopted two adult cats nearly 3 years ago; one of them had serious inflammatory bowel disease (was on daily prednisone and still had daily discomfort, occasional vomiting, diarrhea, etc -- despite her vet prescribed food). We switched her to a grain free diet largely based on Instinct canned foods and literally all symptoms disappeared within a few weeks. She loves the rabbit formula, but also likes chicken, lamb, duck, and beef so I rotate flavors. Her sister loves the stuff too. I highly recommend this food for cats with lower GI sensitivity. No, I'm not a vet, but I've cared for cats well over 20 years now and I'm convinced the grain free diet fixed this problem for the long term. Both cats have been healthy for over 2 years now with minimal vet visits (just annual checkup).

Instinct canned food - both the Limited Ingredient diet and regular diet - made my cat sick. I don't understand why there are vegetables in cat food. I picked out the green peas, but my cat still had a reaction. After a few days of eating the canned food, I noticed he was lethargic and drooling. I found bits of food on the floor and on his cat tree. He was also kicking a lot of litter out of his box - he doesn't do that normally. I stopped buying canned food that contains any form of carbohydrate. Now I buy Merrick Limited Ingredient and Whole Paws canned food. Whole Paws is like the healthy version of Fancy Feast Classic. It contains a small amount of careggenan, but at least it doesn't have fruits, vegetables, or artificial flavors. He only likes the chicken/whitefish and chicken/beef flavors. He's doing well so far. All his symptoms cleared up. He's back to his normal self, running around and playing. It's appalling that pet food companies are misleading people. They promote unnatural, unscientific diets.

Comments about Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken Formula Canned Cat Food:

My cat ate this the first time we gave it to her, now she won't touch it. She loves the chicken in the same variety. My cat is not a fan of anything with beef, natural or processed.

Good stuff, but my cats don't want it

Comments about Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken Formula Canned Cat Food:

Like Petguard canned cat food, Instinct is too dense and dry for my cats, who prefer a smoother pâté with more juice in it. There is more juice in the Instinct chicken variety than Petguard contains, but it's not part of the meat -- the little puck of meat just sits in the juice. This all sounds very nit-picky, but my cats are nit-pickers of the highest order, and they deem this food inedible.
