My cat Scrumpy developed a severe skin irritation aged at just a year, causing her to scratch so much she lost much of the fur around her eyes and mouth. Our vet tested her for parasites and various allergies but could not find the source of the problem. It got so bad she had to take steroids to try and control the scratching. As food allergies are difficult to pin point we experimented and stopped feeding her any type of commercial cat food or treat and fed her on Hills DD Venison and Pea Biscuits exclusively. Fortunately she loved them and within a matter of weeks the transformation was amazing. The excessive scratching slowly ceased and her fur has all grown back and no more steroids. Thanks for developing this food Hills, you are a life saver to us!

My cat threw this food up, and every nugget was perfectly intact. I don't think the poor kitty was able to chew them. They are hard as little rocks. The other thing that didn't impress me is that the first two ingredients are peas and pea protein. This is pretty pricey stuff. I don't mind spending the money for kitty's health, but shouldn't venison be the first ingredient? Not impressed and sorry I wasted my money on this. On the plus side, kitty loves the taste.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet d/d Feline Skin Support Venison & Green Pea Formula Dry Food:

I have a cat that I rescued from my backyard who is allergic to just about everything and was scratching & chewing, losing big clumps of fur with raw spots on her skin. After extensive testing and other food trials, she now eats only Hill's venison/pea kibble like it's going off the shelves! And, with half a prednisolone tablet every other day, she's fine and has a lovely glossy coat. I didn't even have to merge it into her former cat food - I put down a small bowl and she ate it - looked for more. Because she can't have other snacks, I carry a small bottle of kibble in my pocket so that i have a good "treat" with which to reward her. She actually comes running if I shake the bottle or if she sees my hand going into my pocket. You have a good product!

My vet recommended this food for my cat. I was skeptical she would eat it but to my amazement she actually LIKES it!! That was over 7 years ago and she still enjoys the taste.

Since going on this food, my cat's stomach problems and frequent vomiting have pretty much vanished. He's finicky, but eats this no problem.

Only downsides is it is pricey and requires a prescription from your vet.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet d/d Feline Skin Support Venison & Green Pea Formula Dry Food:

Our poor cat Benjamin has always had issues with not keeping his food down. (We found him as a stray and have no clue about the first couple of years of his life.) In the last month, it became ridiculous. He was throwing up at least once a day. Our vet had been recommending many things before a diet change, such as the flat bowl to spread out his food, nothing seemed to alleviate his problem. She finally diagnosed him with irritable bowel and recommended a novel protein diet. We decided on d/d and so far, so good! Benjamin has been happily eating with no issues. In addition, he's super energetic and looks great. Such a relief.
