Both of my dogs eat this food pretty eagerly, though only one is sick. My vet says any adult dog will do fine on this formula. It's very important to keep a dog who has kidney problems on a consistent diet... VERY important. I have learned to order extra to be sure I don't run out. You can't go wrong with this brand, if your vet suggests a formula for your pet, use it. But don't suddenly switch them back to commercial food. Your flooring will thank you. Just sayin'. (smile)

We mix this canned food with dry to make it taste better. (the dry, that is).

Worst thing is a Rx is required to purchase it. This seems to be true of others vendors as well. On the plus side, PetFoodDirect accepts a email scan of the Rx without any trouble.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Canine Renal Health Canned Food:

My Petey was diagnosed with kidney disease. He wasn't eating and losing weight. I feed him the kd dry food with a 3rd of a can of the wet and he likes it. He has put his weight back on. The only downfall I find is the expense.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Canine Renal Health Canned Food:

I have been very lucky that this food was discovered at a time when I really thought that I might lose my dog due to kidney disease. It has significantly improved her health, given her back her energy, and improved her kidney function. I do find that I need to feed her more than is recommended in order to keep her weight at an acceptable level. Although it's a tad pricey, I'm okay with it knowing that my dog is happier and healthier than she has been in 2 years.

My 15 year old chocolate lab eats it up and has gained some much needed weight. I'm hoping the food will have a positive affect on his kidney profile when it's done again.
