This is the primary diet for our 18-yr old (soon to be 19) Tonkinese cat who is allergic to many things, including plastic. She tolerates this food very well and has fewer trips to the vet with nausea/vomiting/diarrhea since this has become her mainstay meal. We keep the dry version of Z/D on hand for her as well. The only other food she seems to digest is the A/D version but it is not recommended as a primary diet so it is only offered to her infrequently.

    Need smaller canns

"Wheezer" will eat but we waste half a can most times because he won't eat it after it's been open for a little while. Wish it came in smaller than 5.5 oz

    Great food

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

My cat has been eating z/d dry food for several years and he is really doing well. I want to add the canned food to give him a little variety and he does love it..... but only on the first day. I wish you would offer z/d in the small cans as you do many of the other prescription products for different issues. It is very me - I always throw the second half of the can in the trash. Thank you

    "improved formula" is poor

    By wdripp

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

My cat has been on z/d for allergies for about 18 months. He didn't take to it at first, but with a slow transition was eating well and his itching/skin problems have resolved, which I am happy about. Since I started using cans labeled "improved formula" he has stopped eating well and is losing weight. The consistency and smell are very different from the old formula. I don't know whether a slow transition would have helped, but it was impossible to do that as I had no warning the food was changing, and can only pick up what the vet orders from Hill's. I see from Hill's responses to other comments that the original formula may be coming back. That can not happen fast enough in my opinion.

Hills: Consider selling both old and new formula

    By KFoster

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

To whom it may concern at Hills: Since so many people liked the old formula, and their cats did well on it, might you consider selling both old and new formulas concurrently -- at least until you finalize the improvements to the new formula that you indicated in your responses is currently being further improved to better match the old formula? If the retooled new formula takes months to get to market, you risk losing a loyal customer base. I personally am not familiar with the old formula, only the new formula, and based on appearance, I'm a bit concerned that it looks a bit jello-like (just doesn't look anything like a desired food for an obligate carnivore). I'd love to have the opportunity to try the old formula, as others have indicated their excitement for it.

    Cat Loves

    By Nana banana

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

Just started new improved zd canned food and my Tonkinese cat loves. She licks her plate clean. I do wish you would make a smaller can, but my vet said when first open can, to take half in container and freeze. Take out day before needed and I put in microwave for few seconds and she will eat. Lizzie is 14 and been on Zd diet most of her life and doing great. Is expensive, but she is worth it.

    Def need smaller cans

    By rlangone

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

Despite the repulsive smell, my cat digs the new formula taste...until the can has been open for a while. He doesn't eat much at once so I am lucky to get through half a can before it spoils or he won't eat it. Please add a smaller can option to this line. My cat, and my wallet, would really appreciate it.
