Comments about PetGuard Chicken and Beef Dinner Canned Cat Food:

I learned about PetGuard many years ago. I read a book written by a vet that practiced both traditional and alternative. I can't remember his name but he was/is an associate of Andrew Weil's. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book, I liked and agreed with what the man said. One of the food brands he recommended was PetGuard; that was at least 15 years ago and my kitties still eat no other brand but PetGuard. They don't like the "wheat germ" though. They want meat. I mix a little garlic powder in with it; helps a little with flies and mosquitoes.

Comments about PetGuard Chicken and Beef Dinner Canned Cat Food:

I feed all my cats canned food exclusively. I used to feed what was considered one of the high end off the shelf canned food diets. It was good but not as good as this. Pet Guard uses all natural ingredients and the meat that you and I eat. Not seconds or meat declared unfit for human consumption. Why would you feed your cat something you wouldn't eat yourself?

My cats must really love the taste of this food since they never went this nuts over anything else I've ever given them to eat. My kitten even loves the taste! She gets to lick the spoon after I feed her big brother. I know this is what she will be eating when she gets old enough to transition over to adult cat food. The one cat I've been fostering is a very picky eater and usually snubs his nose up to all but one brand, until Pet Guard! He loves this food and now I can't get him to eat anything else!

If he will eat it, and beg for more, than you know it's good! Something I noticed right away with this food is how my cats were able to go longer between meals. Usually they would be hungry a few hours after they would eat what I was feeding them before. With this food however, they are able to go longer between meals. My oldest cat had a weight problem when I adopted him. I put him on this diet and I was cautiously optimistic. Along with exercise, he lost several pounds and is now down to a healthy weight. He shed the fat and my vet remarked on how much muscle mass he put on. I'm no scientist or vet but it would seem this food is rich in protein and obtains most of it's protein from muscle meat rather than fillers. That's not only important for a cat, it's imperative!

The bottom line is even though this food is a little more expensive than some other products, it's certainly one of the best things you can feed your cat next to preparing your own homemade food for them. I'll gladly spend the extra money to feed my cats what I consider to be one of the best commercial diets available today.

I highly recommend this food and all Pet Guard products.
