I buy these mostly for my cat, and I'm glad I know where to buy these so I don't run out! My dog loves them too, but he gets many other treats (the Merrick big mix bag). My cat tries to open the cupboard to get these, and if I can't find her all I have to do is crinkle the package. She gets one a day, but she wants more. I give one to my dog just to make it fair, but they probably work better for smaller dogs & less avid chewers.

I bought this product a month ago at our local PETCO. Our 3 month old puppy seems to love the lamb lung treats at our vet, so I decided to try the Merrick lamb lung training treats "premium bite-sized lamb lung treats". After purchasing the treat, we opened the bag after we left and gave him a smaller piece to snack on. Our pup gobbled up the piece we gave him immediately and then we drove home. About a half an hour after getting home, our pup became very sick and vomited 4 times over an hour period. Mostly fluid and very small pieces of the "lamb lung treat". That is the only thing that was found in his vomit. The next hour he puked up several more pieces of the "lamb lung treat". He was refusing water, and laying around with no energy. Neither less to say, you can imagine how upset I was to see my puppy so ill from this new "treat". On the back of the Merrick lamb lung treat bag it reads: "all natural, delicious bite-sized training treats. Dogs of all ages (picture with arrows going from puppy to a senior dog) will love these crunchy textured treats......"quality seal means that every treat is both locally sourced and safely made in the USA.....quality meaty treats.." I have to say that the back of this bag is all false advertisement. Upon further investigation of the pieces he vomited up and the pieces actually in the bag, we discovered that each piece is very hard (almost impossible to break with your bare hand/even a knife) and has very VERY sharp edges. So sharp that pieces were actually protruding through the thick bag material containing the treats. The bag was not expired as expiration date is for 2018. I can't believe I trusted this company to provide this so called "safe & premium bite sized lamb lung treat". Our pup did recover from this, however spent several hours recovering and us almost taking him to an emergency vet clinic. After this unfortunate incident we purchased NON-Merrick brand lamb lung treats and have gone through to containers with no issues. We will never ever purchase anything from Merrick again due to this and I would never recommend this company to anyone that I know.
