My vet said I needed to put my cat on a special diet for crystals and prescribed Urinary S/O. I feed my cat mostly wet food with a little side of dry to tide her overnight, and the price for the smallest bag of prescription dry is really high considering anytime you introduct your cat to a new food there's a chance they are going to reject it. I decided to try Hi Tor Felo after checking out its ingredients list and reading good things about it. I'm not happy about the corn meal but that ingredient also happens to be on the prescribed food's list, and at least here it's in the middle instead of at the top. I recommend getting your own food container to hold this as the bags are not up to date in terms of package material and closability (probably how they keep the cost down). My cat smelled this food as soon as I brought it in the door and started whining for it immediately. I don't know whether or not to be alarmed by that. Keep in mind this cat already had some Now! dry food in her bowl and she likes that food! I put down a little Felo and mixed it in with the Now! and she went to town. So, no worries about cat rejection, she loves it. Now if they could just do something about that corn...

I was hoping this would replace my Royal Canin s/o since that is so expensive and this was a good price, but my cats wouldn't touch it. I put it out for the feral cats and they won't either. I wasn't concerned with the couple pieces of dog food in it, if my cats would have liked it.

Comments about Hi-Tor Veterinary Select Felo Diet for Cats:

I have 5 formerly feral, all indoor, male cats ages 3-7, and one girl. One of my boys is now a 5K cat having had several UT blockages and finally "gender re-assignment" surgery. His brother has had one blockage and my old boy, who passed this summer at 16, also had blockages. I have them all on Hi Tor Felo wet and dry, and no issues since we switched. No issues with eating - they gobble it up - but then if they didn't someone else wold - competition is good. I also like that unlike pretty much every other brand of UT diet, even the crazy expensive prescription stuff, corn is not the first ingredient.

Comments about Hi-Tor Veterinary Select Felo Diet for Cats:

Just received the product today and my cat ate it without hesitation !
Smells better to me than the expensive RX food that I was purchasing .
size and shape are similar to RC S/O but not that bleached out color.
Although I am not a fan of the corn meal , it does not have the corn gluten meal or wheat gluten like the other RX diet food I was purchasing from the vet at almost triple the price.
the only few ingredients that Felo does not have that the other has is fish oil, felo uses Flax seed and it does not have a prebiotic or Glucosamine.
It does include L-Lysine, the other does not.
L-Lysine is beneficial for the immune system so I am glad to see Felo include this in their food.

I will update in a few weeks to let others know how this is working for my cat who is prone to struvite crystals and has Cystitis.

13 yr old male creatine level at beginning 2.1 after one year now down to 1.7 using Hi-tor dry 1/8 cup with hi-tor canned mixed with water/supplements PLUS 1/8th tsp of Phosphorus binder has brought the levels back to normal. BUN dropped also. but worried about cats under 2 yrs eating a low protein diet.

My cats love it. I mixed it in with their old food to get them used to it and they are picking around their old food to eat this. I will definitely buy this again.
