I have 4 dogs. Two large, two small. All with special needs. I got this primarily because my two large dogs. One has severe allergies. The other has recurring pancreatitis and IBD. All but one of my dogs wolfed this food down. Of course it was the one with IBD that did not. I had to mix in cooked chicken breast to get him to eat it. It looks and smells like rabbit food. I don't understand why a dog would even find it appealing. Mine literally turned up his nose at it. I don't mind going the extra mile and paying more if its going to help them. I pay for dry food, canned, plus home made meals (not to mention medication) and they were still suffering. I was hopeful when I read that a 10lb. box would make 43lbs of food. I go through two 30lbs bags of dry dog food in a month. But on the box it said a 10lb box would only last 10 days for one large dog! And after feeding all 4 of my dogs half their reg. amounts as I am transitioning them for 3 days...the box is more than half gone! I was hoping it would last 10 days to 2 weeks like a bag of dog food. Also one of my dogs is a senior and has bad teeth. He can only eat soft food so I thought this would be okay. He has trouble with this. It gets dry quickly, even after adding water. Its very hard to clean up too...Think caked on oatmeal. I'm going to stick with it for now because I have tried most everything else. I am hoping I see some improvement in their health in order to make it worth the trouble and cost!

Comments about The Honest Kitchen Thrive Chicken and Quinoa Dog Food:

I used to fee the BARF diet to my dogs, and was looking for something easier that would still be giving my dogs the best nutritionally. I have a new LH Chihuahua puppy who has a sensitive stomach. Her stool firmed up nicely after being fed Thrive for a few days, and a secondary bonus is that her tear stains have disappeared completely. The food looks a bit odd, like spinach porridge when mixed, but don't let the appearance deter you...my dogs get very vocal when they see me mix their Honest Kitchen food and go nuts until their bowl hits the floor. The cost is about the same as the mixture of dry/wet food I had been feeding until recently.

Worked very well for my Aussies. Had planned to use on camping trip. However, ended up using at home for one who had dental surgery and needed soft foods.
