Keep your pet comfortable during and after surgery or when he/she is suffering from orthopedic pain with Onsior. Onsior is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication(NSAID) that is effective and gentle enough to administer to cats. This medication is the only NSAID that is labeled for cats. It works by staying at the site of inflammation longer than it stays in the bloodstream which makes Onsior a safe and effective option for managing your pets pain and inflammation.

What is Onsior? This is an oral medication (given by mouth). Onsior also comes in an injectable form that can be administered by your veterinarian as necessary. This is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication(NSAID). It is used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with surgery. It is also used to treat orthopedic pain. In cats, it is labeled to be used short-term(no more than 3 days). It is a specific typed of NSAID called a COXIB. This type of medication targets the COX-2 enzyme that is specifically responsible for causing pain and inflammation. It is a safer option because it also spares the COX-1 enzyme which protects your pets gastrointestinal tract, kidney, and platelet functions. It is an oral medication that your veterinarian can prescribe for your pet as necessary.

Formulated for: Onsior should not be given to cats weighing less than 2.5 kg, dogs less than 3 months of age, or to cats less than 4 months of age.

How is this medication given? Follow your veterinarians precise instructions regarding the use of this medication. The manufacturer recommends dosing this medication at 1 mg/kg. The dose is generally calculated based on your cats body weight. In cats, one tablet should be given once a day at the same time every day for up to 3 days. Cats weighing between 2.5 and 6 kg should be given 1 tablet daily. Cats weighing between 6 and 12 kg need 2 tablets daily. Your veterinarian will determine that correct dose of Onsior for your cat. This medication can be given to your cat without food or with a small amount of food. Tablets should be given whole. Do not divide, break, or crush tablets.

How does this medication work? The active ingredient in Onsior is robenacoxib. This is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory(NSAID) medication that is COX-2 selective and COX-1 sparing. Onsior works by specifically targeting COX-2 enzymes in the body that are responsible for pain and inflammation. The COX-1 enzymes that are present in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and that are responsible for platelet function are spared with this type of NSAID. This should decrease the side effects and risks associated with NSAIDs including gastrointestinal bleeding.Onsior is tissue selective so it has the ability to identify and target painful sites in the body that are inflamed. This medication moves rapidly through the bloodstream and stays longer at the points of inflammation that need relief from pain and swelling.

Precautions: Do not use in animals who have ulcers of the GI tract. Do not use Onsior in animals that are sensitive or allergic to robenacoxib. If your pet has ever had sensitivity to other NSAIDs, use this medication cautiously and weigh risks vs. benefits before using this medication on these patients.Use caution when using this medication in animals with impaired function of the heart, kidneys, or liver. If the patient is dehydrated or has low blood volume or blood pressure, this medication may also be risky. If this medication must be used in these patients, additional monitoring and fluid therapy may be necessary. The safety of this medication has not been established in pregnant or lactating dogs or cats. Safety studies have not been conducted in cats weighing less than 2.5 kg or in cats less than 4 months of age.

Storage: Tablets should be stored at room temperature away from children and pets. Onsior injectable should be refrigerated.

Comments about Onisor Onsior for Cats:

We have an older tabby cat approx 11-12 years, male, neutered. Developed a nasty haematuric UTI (first known). Administered antibiotic and Onsior as management.

Pros: easy to administer; rapid response to pain and inflammation as could not get himself above level of floor and was struggling to walk w urogenital/ bladder pain and could not be picked up without significant tenderness evident. Now mobile and able to be gently held.

Cons: Morning of Day 4. Has had 3 daily doses of prescribed 4 (last given 12-14 hours ago), displaying uncharacteristic lethargy and disinterest to food (normally a hog with all meals); also response a little disassociated to interaction (normally very chatty as a cat, interactive when called or spoken to), bordering on slightly disoriented.

When I reviewed product information - lethargy, anorexia potential side effects/reactions in some cats. He was good yesterday prior 3rd dose. Potentially 3rd dose may be too much for him.

Have chosen not to administer 4th/final dose but overall immediately effective and valuable on providing relief in first 24-48 hours of an acute pain episode

Comments about Onisor Onsior for Cats:

My Vet first prescribed Onsior for my 11 yr old cat, who is large. Mongo is starting to show signs of arthritis by not jumping up on things like he used to. While I can't tell giving the Onsior is really helping, I can definitely tell it's not hurting him by his demeanor and bathroom visits. So I'll continue on.
I'm happy to find it at such a better price than purchasing through my vet.
Thank you.

Comments about Onisor Onsior for Cats:

I have been using this product for my cat who had developed a problem with bladder stones. It has helped her it amazing ways. She doesn't like to be pilled but is getting used to it. I do with there was a better way to administer it. If I grind it up and put it in food she won't touch it.

Comments about Onisor Onsior for Cats:

Earlier this year my senior cat was diagnosed with arthritis. As many cat owners know, they are able to conceal pain until it is almost unbearable (which is heartbreaking to think about)! The vet prescribed Onsoir coupled with Buprenex. The onsoir has made a world of difference for my cat's comfort and agility. There have been no obvious side effects and it is very easy to administer. In fact, because of the flavoring my cat eats it like a treat so there is no struggle. Definitely a life saving aide for my aging kitty!

Comments about Onisor Onsior for Cats:

My cat ate these little pills like a treat which is great. Gave with a few other treats at same time.
She calmed right down & didn't walk limping. She put weight on her paw & seemed less stressed & stopped crying out in pain.
I am hoping I can use more after I stopped use she had the pain again, waiting to hear from the vet if I can use it more than 3 days.
