What are AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Test Strips? These are test strips that are used with the AlphaTRAK and AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Starter Kit and glucometer. The initial starter kit comes with 25 test strips but additional strips are necessary once these have been used. Each box contains 50 tests strips so you can continue to monitor your diabetic pets blood sugar levels from home as directed by your veterinarian.
What are the benefits of AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Test Strips?
- Contains 50 test strips per box.
- Easy to use.
- Produces accurate results in seconds.
- Made specifically to test blood sugar(glucose) in dogs and cats.
- Only requires a small blood sample(0.3 uL).
- Can be used with AlphaTRAK and AlphaTRAK 2 meters.
Formulated for: Dogs and cats.
How does this product work? Insert the test strip in to the meter port. This will automatically turn the meter on. Make sure the code on the meter matches the species code on the test strip vial. Touch one side of the test strip to the blood sample. Results will appear on the display screen. The angled sample area makes it easy to position the target area on your pet to the blood drop. The test only starts when the strip has enough blood. More blood can be added to the same side of the AlphaTRAK 2 test strip for up to 60 seconds. Your veterinarian will teach you how to properly obtain a blood sample from your dog or cat for blood glucose (sugar) testing.
Uses: You will need to purchase additional AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Test Strips once the initial test strips in the AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Starter Kit have been used. The initial starter kit includes 25 test strips. Additional test strips can be purchased in boxes containing 50 strips each. Test strips are necessary to properly monitor your diabetic pets blood glucose(sugar) levels from home along with the AlphaTRAK 2 Meter. Test strips are compatible with the AlphaTRAK Meter and the AlphaTRAK 2 Meter.
Precautions: For external use only. Changes in blood sugar (too low or too high) can indicate a potentially serious medical condition. If you test your pets blood glucose(sugar) levels and they are unusually low or high, repeat the test with a new test strip. If the reading is still abnormal after retesting and if readings are not consistent with any visible symptoms or if the blood glucose level is less than 80 mg/dL for dog's and less than 100 mg/dL for cats or higher than 250 mg/dL for dogs and higher than 300 mg/dL for cats, you should contact your veterinarian immediately for further instructions. All devices contaminated with blood should be disposed of properly. Your veterinarian can educate you on proper infection control protocols. Do not use the test strips beyond the expiration date printed on the package since this may cause inaccurate results. AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Test Strips should only be used for testing blood glucose(sugar) levels in diabetic dogs or cats. Do not use to test blood sugar levels in humans. At home testing is not a substitution for regular veterinary care but should be used in conjunction with veterinary visits in order to provide your veterinarian with additional information to assist in treating your diabetic pet.
Storage: Store strips in their original container in a dry place at room temperature (between 38 degrees F TO 86 degrees F) away from direct sunlight and heat. Store away from children and pets.
