What is Effipro Topical Solution for Cats?
This is a topical ectoparasiticide that protects your cat from the following insects: fleas, ticks(brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks, and blacklegged ticks), mosquitoes, and chewing lice. Effipro kills these insects and prevents them from reoccurring for 30 days. This medication is applied to your cats skin once a month or as directed. It is waterproof too so it remains effective even after bathing and water exposure. What results can I expect?
Who is it for:
- Kills fleas and controls them for up to 6 weeks.
- Works to kill ticks for a month or longer.
- Can kill mosquitoes quickly- within 24 hours (for up to 14 days) and within 48 hours (for up to 28 days).
- Protects against chewing lice for at least 30 days.
- Waterproof so Effipro remains effective after bathing, shampooing, and water immersion.
Cats and kittens over 8 weeks of age can receive Effipro. It can also be used in nursing and pregnant females as necessary. If your cat is sick or debilitated, you should consult your veterinarian before use.How does it work?
Fipronil is the active ingredient in this medication. Fipronil is a GABA channel blocker. It works by targeting the nervous system of the affected insect. It blocks GABA channels which causes hyperexcitation. This initiates tremors and convulsions which eventually kills the targeted insect. What form(s) does it come in?
