Comments about Lotus Oven-Baked Small Bites Senior Chicken Recipe Dry Dog Food:
QUICK COMMENT: I just received this product and have been using it for about a week now, and so far it seems to be PERFECT. I was looking for VERY SPECIFIC qualities in a dog food, and this Lotus Oven-Baked Small Bites Senior Chicken Recipe, had it all.
My dog is now 12 years old now, and long story short, in the past few years we've gone through different dog foods. One fit his age needs, but he seemed to have bad arthritis, he was lethargic and slow. Another dog food, with chicken made him act like a puppy and we would joke that he was aging backwards. Arthritis seemed to be gone. However, we found out that dog food was bad for him, age wise, according to our vet.
So, I set out on a mission looking for dog food that met what my vet said is good, and what my parents said my dog, Soxy, likes; especially based on how he was acting lately with different dog food. This is what I was looking for, doubting I would find something that met EVERY qualification.
-Senior dog food (vet recommended)
-Low protein (vet recommended)
-Low fat (vet recommended)
-Chicken (Parents wanted based on them claiming what Soxy wants)
-"Small bites" (Parents wanted based on them claiming what Soxy wants)
So, I found Lotus dog food, and it had EVERYTHING we wanted. It was so perfect. It didn't have the lowest protein I could find, but protein was relatively low. The fat however, was the lowest I saw in dog food. Not many companies make "small bites" sized dog food, because I personally feel that is a very odd trait for a 35 lb. dog to only like eating smaller shaped dog food; BUT, my parents claim he doesn't like the bigger shaped dog food :)
Soxy did not snub the food at all, and when I gave him a test snack, he seemed to act like he thought it was a treat.
IN CONCLUSION: I am very happy with this product so far. We feel chicken gives him good energy, so we like that it has chicken AND is shaped small, for a bigger dog who doesn't like large sized dog food. :)
We haven't had this food long enough to see any change in behavior, but so far he seems happy with it, he seems to like it, he still seems to act "young" and I feel happy about the product.
On top of that, the bag and dog food have a very cute and organic packaging and feel to it. So it subconsciously makes you feel like you are giving something healthy, unique and organic to your dog. :) The dog food has a unique flower shape to them. So the packaging and dog food shape is just an added little bonus.
