I use one large can split between two cats for their dinner meal. I like that Purrfect Bistro is thick but smashable, without gravy. I add a little water to make its own gravy, without thickeners. I can leave the food in chunks, or mash it to a puree. I can mix in vitamins or medications easily, if needed.
My cats always eat this, and lick the bowls clean. The vegetables are pureed into the meat, so the cats can't bypass those (otherwise, they won't eat carrots.)

Beef Pate

My cat is 17 years old and cannot eat chicken or turkey. Why put chicken or turkey in beef pate? She will not eat the new cowboy cookout.

Mittens favorite ever!

Comments about Merrick Purrfect Bistro Beef Pate Recipe Canned Cat Food:

Our cat stopped eating other brands, so we decided to spend a little more for better quality. So glad we did...she loved it more than any other brand. Sadly, we had to put her down due to cancer. She was 16. We will always stick with Merrick.

Why do you not list the calories, very important for each cat, on your cans?

Formula change?

Comments about Merrick Purrfect Bistro Beef Pate Recipe Canned Cat Food:

I've been feeding my two cats Merrick for a few years (and before that the Before Grain line until it was discontinued). However in the past 6-8 months I've had issues with the canned food. They eat the Beef, Chicken and Turkey pate recipes. During this time, some cans are "hit or miss". I've started questioning if you've changed your recipe and they can smell the difference but many times they walk away from their food dishes leaving them untouched, yet I'll open another can (making sure it's from a different lot number) and there will be no problem. The cans recently look different than in the past - food is not as solid - it's mushier and I sometimes find what looks to bits of a leafy green vegetable mixed in. But the most disturbing is that lately I'm finding bone chips in the food, mainly the Beef Pate. I mash up the food in their dish and I can feel a distinct grinding sound when the spoon its the bone chip against the ceramic dish. I'm very disappointed in these changes and unfortunately will be looking to change my cats to a new food.

bad ingredient

Comments about Merrick Purrfect Bistro Beef Pate Recipe Canned Cat Food:

I have been feeding my dogs and cats Merrick foods for a couple of years and my 2 dogs and 5 cats all love the products, but I was disappointed in myself for not reading the ingredients more carefully. The cat cans contain Carrageenan, a very bad product that is unfortunately in a majority of canned dog and cat foods as well as many products intended for human consumption, like soy milk. I encourage everyone to read about carrageenan. Until this product is removed I am not longer feeding the cat cans to my cats. Unless ingredients change I still feed Merrick dry food to both my dogs and cats.
