I noticed my cat was not eating much of her K/D Science Diet food. She has lost several teeth and I think she might have been having trouble chewing it. So I tried Purina instead. It has a flatter shape that seems to be easier for her to chew, and it is slightly softer. She has been eating more and gaining weight. I also had her kidney enzymes tested about a month or two after starting this food, and they were normal, whereas before the food, they had been slightly above normal (hence the special diet). So far, I'm happy with it!

Bought both dry and canned about 1 month ago and cannot tell if kitty feels any better yet. She does not touch the canned food but will eat the dry food - maybe because she likes it, maybe because she's so hungry. If it lengthens her life, but she doesn't enjoy her food, I wonder if it's worth it for her. Does not provide breakdown in mg for the amount of ingredients, which makes me suspicious.

My cat loves this!

Our cats have always had Purina Cat Chow since they were kittens. Recently, one of them was diagnosed with renal failure and was barely eating at all and starting to lose a lot of weight. Our vet gave us one sample to try from another company and he wouldn't touch it. Then he gave us the NF to try and he loves it just as much as the regular cat chow! Now he is starting to look healthy again and we are so thankful.

This was a prescription pet food, what the vet ordered. My cat adjusted to it easily.

My Cat Loves This!

By Ogossamer

from Murrells Inlet, SC

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Kidney Function Feline Formula Dry Cat Food:

My cat is in renal failure, and had quit eating altogether. We received a sample bag of the NF Purina dry cat food from a major veterinary teaching center. Much to my surprise, my cat loved this! She would not touch any of the other samples we were given, and still won't eat wet food. I do not know where to buy this though. Petsmart told me they did not carry it. Any recommendations on where to purchase this? Can you only get it through a clinic?
