I bought this years ago when my (at the time) three elderly dogs began becoming finicky and needing special diet attention. I had already spent years destroying my kitchen to provide a truly nutritional alternative/additive to the commercial food I was buying. I bought the best pet food available from wonderful "boutique" companies that did a fantastic job while sadly destroying my bank account. I started adding a small can of Evanger's game meat to their food a couple times a day and they could not get enough. My wolf hybrid would lick every drop off of the dry kibble and leave the kibble behind. Their health improved as did their appearance even at 15 years of age. I have no doubt that this not only gave them even better nutrition than the purest, best kibble, but also improved their happiness and energy levels.
Currently I have four cats, three of which have some sort of special diet needs. While even cats need a bit more than protein, and I do still buy three types of prescription food, I started feeding the pheasant and rabbit to one of my cats who was nearly dead from some sort of food reaction to the prescription he's been on for years. In November and December he suddenly lost 3.5 of his 10 lb weight and developed extreme stomach pains and hair loss as well as getting lab tests that indicated the start of a kidney problem. On January 5 my now 6.5 lb cat was very close to dying and would not eat. The vet gave him an antiemetic and I went in search of ANYTHING he would eat. I finally remembered Evanger's from my "dog days" and he has not stopped eating and demanding more. In six weeks he has gained back 2 lbs, has a beautiful coat again, has stopped sneezing, and acts like the crazy happy cat he was four months ago. My other cats have started to get the same food mixed into their various kibble and have all shown numerous health and behavior improvements.
I'm not sure, but I think Evanger's saved his life as I know it lengthened and improved the lives of my dogs years before.

Maybe this is really just for dogs, but my 2 cats hate it. They eat anything. One cat even eats dog food and he won't touch it. I feel terrible since I bought two cAses and he has IBS and can't eat other protiens and rabbit is hard to find locally. He has tried two other grain free rabbit foods and loved them, so I don't know what is wrong with this--I hAve tried for a week now and they are losing weight so I Have to pay a ton to send the 2 cases back or just take a big loss on the food. Don't buy it, it is not saving money if they refuse it, plus it is FULL of water so you aren't really saving money.

Comments about Evangers Evanger's Grain-Free Rabbit Canned Food:

My dog has numerous skin allergies. My vet suggested a rabbit or deer-based food. This one works. I don't like the smell so much but my dog loves it and his skin is much improved, so smell and all, I'm very pleased with this product and highly recommend it as a dietary supplement with a hypo-allergenic kibble.
