My male Maine Coon cat had crystals about 3 years ago, went into kidney failure and almost died. The vest prescribed Hill's C/D and he's been eating it ever since. He likes it, and has had no recurrences. The vet said it was okay to feed C/D to our other two male cats, one of whom has medium black hair and we've noticed a change in his coat since he's been eating C/D. His coat is beautiful now! Two of our cats love C/D canned, but the one who had crystals will only eat the dry food. Go figure!

I don't understand why a prescription is needed for this product. Is there a controlled substance that can damage heath? There are no feeding restrictions. The only reason we purchase this product is to prevent another $1000 vet bill due to urinary tract problems.

My cat likes it, he runs to his fish when I feed him, but it can be very expensive...almost double wheat non-prescription kibble would be.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet Hills Prescription Diet c/d Feline Multicare with Chicken Urinary Care Health Dry Food:

My cats have been on this for years and have recently begun throwing up immediately after eating it. I've seen several comments online about cats throwing up due to the fat content and it seems to be a recent change. I'm frustrated, since there aren't many other options for prescription diets. I'm probably going to try Royal Canin, although I'm not sure it's any better.
