Almost two years since major kidney shut down and stones and still going strong! Only change has been that I now feed 1/6th of a can to my little yorkie w/ 1/3 cup warm water morning and night vs. 1/5 of a can because she got a little chunky. : ) Very happy that this product has helped maintain great kidney values and no new stones since surgery - for us, it is a miracle.

Our get has placed our 15 year old dog on this food but she will not leave it on the bowl. She carries it out of her bowl and it gets all over the floor and is like glue. Very hard to clean up. If it was more like a stew then it would not leave the bowl. It is too dry

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet g/d Canine Early Cardiac-Healthy Aging Canned Food:

I wholeheartedly trust and believe in this product for maintaining kidney health in dogs with kidney disease and stone development. We have been on this program for over 3 years now and sticking to this diet and the prescription diet treats ONLY I am 100% convinced I have been given years more with my best pal. The science behind this stuff is incredible - we get so into organic, no grain, high protein marketing that we are not always doing what is best for our pets. We were told that our pup would continue to decline and essentially there was no hope but luckily we visited multiple vets until we found one that had ideas! The BEST idea was this food - it has been a LIFE SAVER.

    Product formula has changed

    By Ozzy2006

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet g/d Canine Early Cardiac-Healthy Aging Canned Food:

The G/D canned is now a higher percentage of water than previously. More watery than preferred. Also with the new formula, when opening the can, large flecks of white fat are found, I've been trying to remove them as I want minimal fat in my dogs diet anyway. If that fat needs to be part of the formula, it needs to be better distributed throughout the product.

Science Diet g/d canine canned food

    By MurphyBrownsMom

    from West Allis, WI

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet g/d Canine Early Cardiac-Healthy Aging Canned Food:

We needed to find a way to get our 4 year old Maltipoo to take in more water. By feeding the canned food in the morning, we can add 1/3 cup of water, which she'll drink to get to the food! Although she's not an 'aging dog' she does have issues with crystallization and stones forming -she's had to have 2 surgeries already, which is too much for a 6 pound pup! The only thing I wish is that there were more consistency -each can seems to be different and the texture is 'weird'. Having never used wet food before, I guess I thought it would be more like what I've seen advertised on TV! BUT Murphy likes it, and bottom line, that's all that matters. I do feel that it's rather costly, but as long as I can find coupons to help offset the expense, I'll be OK with it!
