What is TriTop Ointment?This is an ointment that is used topically on the ears and skin in order to treat susceptible infections and inflammation. It can also be used as a dressing that can be applied to cuts, wounds, and post-surgical incisions as prescribed by your veterinarian.

How is this medication given?Use this medication topically only as directed by your veterinarian. If TriTop ointment is being used in the ear, apply enough ointment to fill the external ear canal one to three times daily as directed by your veterinarian. Always clean the skin prior to application and always follow your veterinarian’s specific instructions.

How does this medication work?The active ingredients are: Isoflupredone Acetate, Neomycin, and Tetracaine. Isoflupredone Acetate is an anti-inflammatory medication that helps decrease inflammation. Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills susceptible bacteria and Tetracaine acts as a topical pain reliever.

What results can I expect? Your pet’s skin and ears should start feeling better by the end of the prescribed course of treatment and his/her skin and/or ear infection should resolve. If your pet is not seeming better or seems to be worsening, always contact your veterinarian for further instructions.

Dose and Administration: Always follow your veterinarian’s prescribed instructions. TripTop is usually applied 1 to 3 times daily as directed. If you miss an application, give it as soon as you remember but never give two applications at once. Use TriTop Ointment only for the pet it has been prescribed for. Contact your veterinarian if you have questions regarding the proper use of this medication.

Uses: TriTop Ointment is used directly on the skin and ears to treat infection and inflammation. It can also help with incisions after surgery, cuts, wounds, and anal gland infections.

Possible Side Effects: This medication is very well tolerated when used as directed. Local irritation is possible. Prolonged application of TriTop may cause hearing loss, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. Other side effects may occur. Contact your veterinarian right away if your pet appears ill after TriTop has been applied.

Drug and Food Interactions: Always tell your veterinarian about all medications and supplements your pet is taking to ensure that TriTop can be applied safely.

Precautions: If your pet is pregnant or lactating, TriTop may not be safe and may cause birth defects especially if ingested. The external ear of the animal should be thoroughly checked to make sure that the tympanic membrane is not broken before applying the medication. Hearing loss can occur especially if the tympanic membrane is ruptured.

Storage:Store at room temperature away from children and pets.
